How are you getting your blog seen?

Blogging guidepost, vector illustrationWhilst still considering the niche /area that i am going to go forward into what has also been in the fore front of my mind is how to get the world to see my blog.

What are the best ways of getting your blog and yourself known. Everyone will have a slightly different angle to this however my recent research has led me to the following conclusions:-

The first and obvious one is to make sure that the blogs have great content and start to follow a stream giving information to the subscribers. This will enable them to know the area that I am developing and to get to know me and my style

Ensure that my blog is kept up to date with all links working with new and relevant information

Making them easy  to read using pictures and videos to display important bits

Social Media:-

To use Social media to get the fact that I am blogging and a serious internet marketer out to people that might be interested. Researching the relevant groups and sites with areas like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to grab their attention.

By finding the blogs and people that are well respected into the field that I am going to break into to check them out. looking to see how they blog and what sort of content they use.  Leave comments on their blogs so that their followers get to know me as well. Sharing my information with them and contacting them on  a personal level. You can use Twitter by searching for some of your keywords to find people in the same area, see if they share others post, is so try and communicate with them (bear in mind that you will only have 140 characters to do this)

Value adding:-

One of the best ways to to add value to other peoples blog in the way of comments, making sure that these blogs have new content. In time the building of these relationships will give you an edge and enable you to become a  known authority in the niche.

A further way of getting traffic is to become active in forums by being a member of 2 or 3 which have large membership. Using this avenue to share and comment on different boards people will see your blog signature and take a look.

Of course all of the above takes time however this should be looked as a constructive way of generating leads and traffic to your blog, not as a time consuming task. You can learn more by reading others comments and blogs to show you different ways of approaching things.

Ultimately you want Google to pick your blog up to get to this goal you need

1. Good content

2. Links to your blogs and other resources

3. Social shares utilizing social media

So when you are looking at other peoples blog with the cup of coffee in one hand think about what are they saying, how are they keeping my attention, is this a skill worth learning or copying. How can I add to this blog by leaving a comment, where can I go to find like minded people to interact with.

How are you going to get better traffic to your blog?

Take a look at the Simple Traffic Solutions that I am advertising by John Thornhill this is a great inexpensive informative work and will give you great ideas.

    Hi Elaine,
Good stuff….I was hoping to see a new ‘magic button’ that I had somehow missed, but alas, that still eludes us!! It is indeed all the usual suspects.
I take your last point on board very much, I have started looking at how people write & how they set their paragraphs & sentences some people are just easier to read than others!
They always say, write as if you are talking to your best mate…well,I try, but have no idea if I succeed & I suppose it depends on how the person reading likes to be talked to!

BTW….your Facebook icon just links to the FB home page & not your account…I know you have one as I have just checked & you are indeed ‘my friend’…

    Hi Elaine

The ways you have listed to get traffic to your blog are some of the best and often overlooked as they take work. Everyone me included at times wish we could hit a button and the traffic would come flooding in, but unless you have a big pay per click budget then we have to keep wishing :)

Another good way apparently to get traffic is to convert your article or blog post into a slide and then distribute it to video sites such as youtube, dailymotion etc. As far as the quality of the traffic well I still have to test this method myself, but when I do I will be sure to let you know of its effectiveness.

Some great tips there thanks Elaine.

I really believe that if people follow your advice above then the traffic will come and what’s more important is that it will be ‘targeted traffic’.

If I can just add one small thing to your list please and that’s a bit of patience!

Good content, SEO, Social Media, blog commenting etc. do work but I’ve found that you just need to give it a bit of time to show real results.

A good example is the Social Media with my blog.

I’ve been adding regular (daily) content now for about 2 months and for a while it’s like you’re talking to yourself.

But then…wham. The Twitter account especially is drawing a lot of interest and it’s so satisfying to have that hard work rewarded.

Great post Elaine, glad my ‘CommentLuv’ plugin found it.

I’m using the CommentLuv plugin to attract other bloggers who use the same plugin – although I’ve been away recently so let things lapse. But, back in harness again now. Also blogging regularly in the hopes that Google will start visiting more regularly. I also use Twitter, Facebook and Google+

    Hi Elaine,

Great stuff! One more way is by SEO or Search Engine Optimization. Having your post or website appear in the SERP or Search Engine Result Page for a certain query will surely give you lots of traffic into your website. 😉

    More success!

Great amount of information contained in your post and the problem now is to make full advantage of them all to make sure your blog is seen and read.

I’m still considering the use of some automation for the social media side, but which one would be the best option!

All the best with your efforts and give us feedback on which is working the best for you!

    Hi Elaine,
what useful informative writing and such useful tips! Thankyou.
I just wanted to add my few pence worth to this! All these methods are fantastic and I am enjoying the learning curve and exploring how these methods work!
It is just not to forget that we are people with legs! who take a break from the computer; maybe to go out to the coffee shop or into the Mall and we sit and talk.
I make sure that OFFLINE, I am as effective as online! I carry cards, fliers, I ask people if they enjoy writing! Do they Blog? Do they have a business or product to promote?
Make the most of one-to-one conversations and build those
relationships because that is the moment you will get people’s trust; get them to like you and get their attention.
Many of our sign-ups into our favourite program have been through Talking face to face, for example at Networking Breakfast meetings. It is more important than ever these days, to keep our interactive skills alive.Best wishes, Averil

Is this a paid theme or did you customize it yourself?
